This housing project in Magdeburg comprises 72 dwellings in an inner-city block. The new buildings complete the street edge and respond to the scale and materiality of the neighbouring historic facades, with light brick cladding, deep window reveals and a clear vertical rhythm.

The ground floor is designed with generous entrances towards the street, while the apartments above benefit from double orientation towards the street and a quiet inner courtyard. Balconies and loggias are integrated in the volume to preserve the calm character of the facade. The project demonstrates how new housing can contribute to the density and liveliness of the city, while respecting the character of an established urban context.
