UTSUWA

UTSUWA is a project at the crossroads of art, craftsmanship and architecture in Berlin. A timber pavilion was designed and built by hand in a courtyard workshop, using traditional joinery techniques.

The construction process itself is central to the project: timber elements were cut, tested and assembled step by step, and the resulting structure was erected in a green courtyard framed by graffiti-covered walls. Detail photographs reveal the precision and beauty of each joint. The pavilion is a small architecture but also a manifesto for the value of making, for collaboration and for the knowledge embedded in materials and hands.
